It's not an auction. In my opinion Kiffin has known for a while which school was his next stop. At this point in his career the decision will be based on which school or program gives him the best chance to win Championships!
The purpose of the bidders is to create a fear of loss from the school you want to work for and squeeze as much money, to include NIL, as possible from them and their boosters.
