Sure seems more and more like this guy would be retained by the next staff. Seems like this was a Woodward guy more than an ED guy.

I’m not saying it’s a guarantee. But him coming here was a shock and he is said to be one of the top O Line coaches in the nation technically and recruiting wise. Coaches know good coaches. Except for O. It’s likely that Davis is better than who ever the other coach currently has. Now he may still chose to let him go and that would be his right as the new coach. You have to live or die by your coaching choices. But this guy is good.

I also think there would be a significant want to keep some of the current staff if possible just to help with money. Especially since many of our guys are actually damn good coaches. It’s just the HC, OC, PGC, and DC that have really been lack luster.

Our STC has been awesome.

If it's napier, rob sale is coming. That's for sure. If Rob is the oc, Davis might stay

One sure way to have top coaching candidates say no, and to lead to the frick up we've seen here in this last coach's tenure is for an AD to dictate/influence who their assistant coaches should be.

Let the HC call his shots on assistants so he can live or die with their performance. Bad HC's get to hide behind assistants they "had" to use and good HC's will not go where they have a hand tied on who they can have on staff.

I would think Davis, Raymond, and Joseph all have a good shot at being retained. Everyone else can be shown the door.

If our running game and O line play continues the way it has the last 2 games for the rest of the season he should be retained

Really think he just needed time to get things going. He really is doing a lot with very little. More development from the young guys also.

why is that?

Sale was the OC at UL and left for a position coach in the NFL.

It's known he would come back to college as a position coach?

The biggest thing going for Davis' retention is the fact that LSU still owes him $1.6 million at the end of the season.

There might be a clause in his contract that waives or reduces that if the HC is fired.
