Sure but is sacrificing a class worth ,"maybe" the right guy? It's an unknown. No one knows who the right guy is. If it's not Saban, Dabo, Meyer, there is no guarantee of a "right guy".
Contrary to what some here think, in college Jimmies and Joe's mean more than the coach. LSU is the ideal example of that. We are already behind in kids so sacrificing a class, particularly a strong instate class, could set us back as most of the kids leaving our class or state are going to Bama or TAM. That's a problem. And if the guy is not the right guy we will be set back again in 2-3 years. That's how programs fall off a ledge. It is what it is but this hire is more vital than the last couple we've had. We are on that ledge. Wrong hire and we are back to the 80s and 90s or become what Texas has. A program whose base has unrealistic expectations based on past history and hiring numerous guys with each being finally the "right" guy.

if true that's really dumb and short sighted, of course you want to have a good class but one less than stellar class is not the end of the world with a brand new coach. the 2023 and 2024 classes are the important ones for a new coach.
