No. 6 MM per year is too much for a guy with little success at HC and a recovering alcoholic. He needs to understand his situation. He has been very average while not under Saban.

My middle daughter attends ULL. I think ULL should go after Malzan. Call me crazy, but I think it is an upgrade for ULL. Napier is a talented young coach but he has made many questionable decisions. (Beyond the App St debacle)

A boat load of cash eases that pressure quite a bit.

Yes, money takes care of many things. But who since Pay Dye has left Auburn on his own terms? Who wants that burden and having to deal with the GOAT up the road? Something to think about when you're only 41 years old and will have many opportunities to take the next step.

Every coach outside of Chiz (who had kids kidnapping people) spent almost a decade at AU

Needs to be no where near the program anymore.

I love me some caddy and TWill but the entire staff needs to be replaced.

Miles. Were paid way too much to lose 5 games per year. Old coaches are good at cashing checks, not so much at evolving.

Good young coach but I'm not sure he's ready to butt heads with Saban.

Send me the list of young coaches ready to butt heads with Nick Saban.

Pat Dye didnt leave on his own terms. Neither did the coach before him (Barfield.) The coach before Barfield has his name on the stadium.

*edit*

If we are getting technical Bowden quit so technically he left on his own terms but we still paid a buyout so...

Shannon B. Terry just tweeted that sources say Napier turned down the job and that Bill Clark is next in line.

You think they should fire Napier? That’s a top-10 dumbest idea on this site this year.

If true I wonder what he’s waiting for.

I have no idea. I don't think a better job than Auburn will hire him, unless he's convinced the title IX stuff is going to take down Ed O.

I'm going to go out on a limb (not really) and say "outrageous" means he insisted on autonomy for hiring assistant coaches, and appropriate distance between certain boosters and the program. Don't think for a second that he's not going to insist on total control like Saban, so he can build his program without interference. He's seen how it works up close.

He wants way too much money plus large guaranteed percentage and high buyout

It would line up with MSU and South Carolina. He has very specific demands and walks when they're not met.

This is not the best scenario for the good guys. Wonder if they would take O and let us have Napier?
