Saban will not happen. When was the last time you took a job for less money? He will not be able to recruit in Florida or Alabama and there will be major, Major bridge rebuilding with high school coaches in Louisiana. LSU will only end up with Curtis guys for three years.

LET IT GO . . .

Unfortunately, unless this is the best rumor smokescreen ever invented, I'm starting to feel that way, too. Doesn't mean I have to like it.

Someone stop makeing "gut" decisions and answer my questions.

Why would Saban take less money?
Why would we want Saban knowing that he would not be able to recruit anywhere east of the Mississipi River?
What credibility would he have if he came here?
Why would he take less money?
What would he tell high school recruits?
What would he tell high school coaches(except for J.T. Curtis)?
What would he tell the half of the fan base that absolutly hates him?

I'm waiting...

HS Coach: Why should I trust you NS? I sent you Tremaine Johnson and you left him high and dry.

NS: Don't worry, it was all part of the process.

HS Coach: What does that mean? How can I trust you? Seriously?

NS: I won a National Championship!

HS Coach: And then you left. I can not seriously tell any of my kids to trust you.

NS: YOU WILL LISTEN TO ME AND DO WHAT I SAY. I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS!!!

He doesn't have to tell them anything. They know who he is and they grew up loving LSU football for the most part. When you are a winner, and he is, it speaks for itself. They watched him win a NC at LSU when they were kids. What does he have to tell them, you answer that question.

If Saban came back to LSU, he would not get the next J. Russell of Joseph Addai. That kid would know that he hasn't stayed at a job for more than five years and he would be playing for a new coach in a few years. Which would substantiate what the freshmen and sophmores at Bama would tell him because they know from experience.

I disagree, if he goes back to LSU he will stay there until he retires.

this can't be right, all we've heard the past 11 months is he'll be at Bama until he retires...

Maybe so, but it would take that long to restore any of his credibility. Every coach in the country would say don't go play for Saban he'll leave for Notre Dame or Penn State or the NFL and leave you high and dry.

How do you combat that if your Nick Saban?

None of this answers the question of why he would leave for less money?

what if news breaks in the next few months that Saban already knows about. Lets say BAMA may be about to get a PLOI from the NCAA, what do you think about him leaving now?

Bayou - I respect your opinions, but watch this press conference and tell me that that mountain to climb in Bama is just too damned much to tackle if LSU's job comes available to Saban.

I think it's PERFECT timing. If Les leaves, which I would prefer him to stay, Saban's return would be good for HIM and LSU.

BTW, does Saban look "fresher" in that news conference than he has in the last 4-5 weeks?

What changed????? Carr retires.

Read into that what you will, but I think Saban is energized at the thought of a return to LSU.

What's new at Bama? Just joking.

I think coaches would say, "Saban is doing the same thing he did at Miami and leaving when the going gets rough. He doesn't stick anything out or see anything through. I'm not going anywhere, good times or bad times. Mark my word, Saban will leave you high and dry to go back to the NFL or another team within the next four years. Go ask Rolando McClain."

It's just a no win situation for him to come back to LSU. Again, not addressing the less money issue.

I think the less money issue could be his out to save face. Think about it, with the money he has made is 1 mill a year going to break him? Then he has the ability to say he came back because this is where his heart is. just sayin
