It seems like every thread I read on here has people just automatically assuming that Aranda is gone next year. Why? Why would he leave good money (and most certainly a healthy raise) and a D that is set up for success next year and already knows his system? To go to Texas? Seriously? All the money in the world won't make that defense good in the next year and a half. Defense has always been Charlie Strong's calling card, and he could even make anything out of that mess when he took over control as they got worse this year.

Aranda is under contract no matter who come in. You can bet your arse the athletic department will do anything they can to keep him. If you were looking to further your career and set yourself up for head coaching offers in the next 1-2 years, would you leave to coach a mess of a unit in an offense-happy league, or would you stick where you are knowing what you have and that you will live on TV the next two seasons? He proved he is for real this year. Another season close to this or better and he can name his destination and price.

So, tell me how him leaving makes any sense again?

Correct, but last time I checked money doesn't coach, coaches coach.

So what you are saying is that Aranda doesn't have confidence in himself as a DC to be able to turn a D around?

Aranda will not have an issue going to a place like UT and building a dominant D because he will know he can get the studs he needs to go to UT to build that dominant D! Basically meaning he has confidence in his abilities!!! Look at Chavis going to the defensive dumpster fire that was A&M. It didn't stop him from having confidence in himself to turn the defense around did it?

Not at all. I'm saying Texas is more of a project and that it will likely take him longer to make the bigger splash there. There is home run potential in having the kind of season he has turned in here over there, but their defensive talent base is a mess right now. If he is looking to make his move in the next 2 seasons on a constant upswing, then staying here is the safer bet.

Hell yeah, he's confident. And for good reason.

As long as Alleva is here, I'm not worried about the D. Aranda can go to Texas.
