Patterson is interviewing for the Auburn job ? shite the SEC West is gonna be hard enough over the next few years without him (And Bumpass) coming in and making the plainsmen a top 5 team. Am I alone in my concerns?

Not as scared as I would be if it was still Tubberville.

its better for us that Auburn is strong so that Alabama has competition over there. And the fear of Dick Bumpas

True Tubbs was steady Eddie on our seasonal radar. What scares me with Patterson is and has done an excellent job with TCU. (limited talent) If he has the opportunity to pick up some top tiered talent his defenses could be ridiculously good.

I don;t know about that. IMHO we know Nick will have a top 5 defense year in/out. Patterson could crowd the top 5 with another SEC west team. Yes he spreads the recruits out (In BAMA) but he still brings another hellacious D to our regular schedule.

Not really. He's not a better game coach than Tubbs. He is a good recruiter, but that does nothing other than somewhat level the recruiting playing field with Saban. All in all, I'm ok with it.

Patterson worries me. We know he coaches great defense and wins a lot of games for a mid-major that recruits mediocre talent. But it's hard to predict whether or not he'll succeed with a top-20 program in the country's toughest conference. He couold be the second coming of Saban or Ed Orgeron.

Gary's Defense has been rated 1rst twice in the last 8 years with the average around 10. One disaster year at 99 but twice at the top spot is very impressive. Looks more like Saban the Orgeron to me. (I get all my stats from NCAA.com)

this virtual nobody has reached status of epic proportions in mere weeks

I'll have to remember that term = "Bumpas" next time some OT'er pulls a AIMS or Stout

Do you watch football? Bumpas has been mentioned for the broyles award since 2006. He is listed as a top rivals dc for the last 3 seasons. He isn't a nobody.
