I'm sure they think that Bill Parcells, Jimmy Johnson or another big name will take over that "sleeping giant".

Rocket, did you hear Bill King's response to the "sleeping giant" email. It reminded me of the "runt" comment ESPN made about Ole Miss.

I've heard that for a while but it cooled down. Tyson must be putting up some big dough to do that. Poor Tubberville will never do what he has at Auburn! BAD MOVE!

Take this fwiw and I got this from hogville so take it with a grain of salt:

quote:

Being reported that there is some serious behind the scenes stuff going on

quote:

with Tommy Tubberville per otis.

TT is now in the lead for hog job

quote:

Mike Irwin said tonight that TT said he would take the job in a heartbeat..............

He just couldn't afford the 6 million buyout

Mike also said that they are looking for a way around it with a loop hold

An ArKANSAS fan emailed him and said...Bill, don't you think that Arkansas is a sleeping giant that is waiting to be awoken? Bill sat there for a minute and said he hated to break the news to him but NO! He said that in the modern day of CFB teams like Arkansas cannot compete due to recruiting. He compared them to Ole Miss and said that Houston took that program about as far as it could go.

Tubberville has wanted that job for years. He was on his way there to take it when Houston Nutt was hired. It was a power play and a bad move on the part of Arkansas boosters back then. Auburn WILL NOT let him out of the 6 mil, especially for another SECW job. This really sounds like a pipe dream because I don't think that even Tyson will drop that kind of dough.

No kidding. The SEC may be getting tougher with these new coaching changes.

Though Tuberville said last week that he planned to stay at Auburn for "as long as they want us here. But there were rumblings Monday that there could be interest in Tuberville from Arkansas, where Houston Nutt resigned Monday night after 10 seasons. Tuberville is an Arkansas native, but a source close to the Razorbacks' athletic department said the $6 million buyout in Tuberville's contract would be an insurmountable obstacle.

The only way Arkansas would be interested, the source said, was if the buyout was waived or dramatically reduced.

i can see TT on The Hill. you think Long will hold to JFB's long-standing policy of having had HC experience as a pre-requisite for the job?
