Just so the front page isn't run over with Spurrier/Saban/Del Rio stuff. Here's a list of smaller name guys. I'm not sure of their current contract situations, so maybe someone could help me out on some of them. Anyway, what are your thoughts on any/all of them?
Gary Pinkel, Missouri
Jeff Jagodzinski, Boston College
Bret Bielema, Wisconsin
Brian Kelly, Cincinnati
Chris Peterson, Boise State
Randy Edsall, UCONN

Money wouldn't be an obstacle with any of them.
Gary Pinkel, Missouri - no way, hasn't proven anything.
Jeff Jagodzinski, Boston College - fast riser, but a bit premature.
Bret Bielema, Wisconsin - meh.
Brian Kelly, Cincinnati - really like him.
Chris Peterson, Boise State - really like him too.
Randy Edsall, UCONN - not yet.

Hasn't proven anything at the higher level though. He took over a Cinci team going to a middling bowl game at the end of last year, and he has turned them into a Cinci team that is going to middling bowl.

Really?
I'm not a fan of Pinkel. He's been at Mizzou 6 years and this is the first time he's lost less than 5 games...

Yet.
He's a pretty fast riser who has had his name thrown around with pretty much every major opening. He's riding this rocket ship to the NFL though.

It is not like he is coaching at a talent magnet...

Mizzou (Pinkel) beat South Carolina (Spurrier) in the Independence Bowl two years ago.

Don't disagree there I just don't think its time to hire him just yet.

True, but he's had some pretty good players come through - Brad Smith among others.
I don't think he's a bad coach per se, but he has yet to even win a signature game. This weekend could change that I suppose.

I like Muschamp as a head coach. I cant believe I am not hearing his name more. He will be a great HC.

Yeah, its kind of high risk/high reward. If you hire him and he explodes (Meyer at Florida) you're a genius. If you hire him and he flounders you're an idiot.
Not to mention Cincy was 7-5 last year and he's bumped them to 9-3...
