Houston Nutt has already turned down Swarbrick's request for an interview.

If Charlie Weis' payoff is 18 million, I wonder how many collegiate scholarships that would cover? Sounds to me some priorities are pretty screwed up.

Anyone that thinks that UF or Bama can match any ND offer is an idiot.

You'd be right about "any" - simply because they have the largest fan base in the country - which means more money for the Athletic budget... but I don't think it would be a problem for UF or Bama to match a $10MIL salary - if they wanted to. Both Bama and Florida make $5Mil a game just on ticket sales. I doubt ND would offer more than $10Mil a year for a coach.

I could not see them giving a 6 million dollar raise without the coaches agreeing to some ridiculous buyouts.

I think people are overestimating the amount of available money their program has to give also. If you give a coach 10 million at Bama or UF he better be in the NC every damn year. That is not very likely with the current SEC landscape. There has been 5 programs win the SEC in the BCS era. It would be an incredibly stupid investment.

A great coach at ND will put them in the BCS every year no doubt.

Does their "largest fanbase" donate as much money as the largest alumni groups?

Casual fans don't donate that much do they?

Whoever they get probably won't step forward until after the Bowl Games to keep everything on even Keel.

ND also has their own TV contract and gets more money if they make the BCS.

They need to get Coach Crooms up there to get some character players and run his Gulf Coast Offense.
