I am looking to read some Warhammer books, but I’m looking for either a stand alone or a trilogy. Something that’s a little contained.
I’m not looking for a huge journey with a lot of books, just something to get started that has a beginning and end and nothing on going and going.
What you guys and gals have in mind?

I would suggest the Eisenhorn Trilogy.

Did you want Fantasy or 40K.

Fantasy to start, but either one if it’s a good story to be honest

I suggest checking out the Malus Darkblade series if you like the fantasy side of Warhammer

Gaunt's Ghosts was a great arc. Doesn't focus as much on the space Marines but more focuses on the imperial guard. 16 books.

I don’t think you understood the assignment

That's tough then. Most of the Warhammer Fantasy books are super long and build into each other. Gotrek and Felix are pretty solid options.
