Sci-fi about a very remote island in So. Pacific where evolution took a left turn. Island is inhabited by flora and fauna that "does not exist in the world." All dangerous. Most who go there don't make it out alive.

Ring any bells?

I don't know but I'm very interested and will take a look at it when someone figures out the title.

Ya its a really cool story, but i'm a sucker for that kind of turn of the century weird fiction and horror fiction.

This type of thing is a foray into an area I don't normally frequent.

Older, slower paced type stuff but creates such an unsettling vibe. H.P. Lovecraft is the real master.
