The Very Hungry Caterpillar book review

I just got finished reading this book, and I must say it was an interesting read. The caterpillar starts out as a little egg on leave, and when he hatches he is immediately hungry as frick. The book takes you through this gluttonous caterpillar’s journey as his tries to satisfy his insatiable appetite. Each day of the week he eats more and more!
By Saturday, he is now eating: 1 piece of chocolate cake, 1 ice cream cone, 1 pickle, 1 slice of Swiss cheese, 1 slice of salami, 1 lollipop, 1 piece of cherry pie, 1 sausage, 1 cupcake, and 1 slice of watermelon. Then has the audacity to complain that he has a stomachache!
On Sunday he gains control of his excessive eating habits and cuts it down to one green leaf. He begins to feel better, although his binge eating has caught up to him and he is now a big, fat caterpillar!
This enormous fat frick has eaten so much that he sleeps in a cocoon for 2 weeks straight. In a shocking turn of events, he emerges from his cocoon completely transformed, as a beautiful butterfly.
Overall I was satisfied with Eric Carle’s writing. I have learned the days of the week and can now count to five! However, the cliffhanger ending leaves the reader starving for more. What has become of this caterpillar-turned-butterfly? Where does he go from here? Can we expect a sequel?
Regardless, I was impressed with Carle’s work and would read again

For the first serious post, I love Eric Carle’s books. I have 6 month old niece, and I plan on making sure she has all his books.

One of my 1 year old twins' favorites. That, and Pinkalicious.

It's no Hippos Go Berserk, but it is servicable.
