Through Fiery Trials is the title. Now's the time to put a hold on it at your local library (unless you want to pay $12.99 Kindle or $18.89 Hardback). The book checks in at 752 pages so it's on par with the other Safehold books. Book 9 was published 2 years ago, so David Weber is easily beating George R. R. Martin, Patrick Rothfuss, and Scott Lynch (damn their eyes) in releasing new books in a series.

The lack of progress on the next Bastards book is maddening.

In the 24th century the Terran Federation is annihilated by an alien civilization they name the Gbana. A small fleet escapes and terraforms (finds?) a distant planet they name Safehold. Except for a small few (the military leaders) the colonists are in suspended animation.
The Gbana have found previous colonies because they detected the colonies' technology. Safehold is set up to restrict industrialization with the idea being that after some time has passed (centuries), technology can be safely reintroduced and humanity can venture back out to kick Gbana arse. Late in the war humanity had figured out how to do this (androids) but didn't have enough time/resources to build enough to do the job.
A schism develops between the leaders and one side wipes out the other. The winners wipe the memories of the colonists and program them to believe they (the colonists) are the first humans, newly created by God, transport the colonists to Safehold (after having created houses, towns, etc.), and awaken them all at the same time. At the same time the Church of God Awaiting is created (again using progammed colonists) and charged with keeping a permanent preindustrial society.
The leader of the losing side had stashed in a hidden location an android with the memories of a Federation Naval officer. That android (who adopts the name Merlin) was awakened many centuries later. The books tell the tale of his efforts to influence society and introduce technology (ever so slowly). He sides with one of the countries which is in opposition to the oppression that the Church of God Awaiting imposes upon many. Lots of wars, good guys vs bad guys, etc.
My summary doesn't really do the books justice. You can find better summaries (wikipedia for sure) but many of those will include plot synopses of each book.
