Justin Cronin’s “The Passage” trilogy

Anyone ever read this trilogy? I am halfway through book 2 and really enjoying it. It is an apocalypse scenario with some supernatural included. Interesting religious undertones also.
I am reading on my kindle and didn’t really look at the authors name until I finished the first book. I was surprised a bit that he was a male (he’s married with kids)-because he writes very introspectively. I love that, especially mixed in with all of the brutality and blood and gore that comes with end of the world books.
So then I read an interview that he did about the book and a few times instead of using the word “reader” when talking about people reading his books, he used feminine pronouns. I thought that was odd.
Anyhow, any thoughts on this book/series?
Will the Ending of the last book be a good trilogy ending? I think trilogy endings are held to a higher standard than your average one and done book.

I’ve read the trilogy. I really like the first two books. I read them when they first came out and then reread them when the third one came out several years later.
Personally the third book was disappointing to me. Not saying it was bad, just the story went in a direction that I didn’t care for. Maybe because I reread the first two and felt like I wanted it to be over that colored my opinion.
They fight the big bad and it was exiting but the third book took a while for him to write so maybe I felt like it was rushed. My opinion.
They’re doing a tv show based on the first book.

I read them. I had issues with the pacing throughout. Cool concept and story, could have been better.

The first book is exceptional. The remainder is better than a lot of stuff out there, but doesn't hold a candle to The Passage.

The first was ok, the second frustrated me, and the third was a pile of garbage IMO.

I agree. Apocalyptic novels really aren't my thing but I thought this series was just OK.

I read and enjoyed the whole trilogy. The Passage was the strongest of the three, but I still liked the other two.
This is becoming a series on Fox in the Fall with Mark Paul Gosselar as Brad Wolgast.

I read The Passage, but haven’t read the others in the series. Overall, I liked the way Cronin handled the subject of vampirism, i.e. how the virus came from bats and how the word “vampire” is rarely used. Apparently, JC had a lot of input into the series, which should be a good thing. Some hard core fans of the book are apparently pissed that Amy is portrayed by a black child actress in the tv adaption, and Babcock’s gender was switched.

I finished this series a few weeks ago. I loved the ending. I def recommend. It took me about a week to process the whole timeline and story. I loved the religious undertones.

Enjoyed the series, didn't know they were making a TV series. Any word on premiere date?
