I’ve never hated a villain as much as Caulker’s Mate Hickey from The Terror(slight spoiler

Wanted to get through the book before I watched the show and the book is great. I just was disappointed he got off so lightly in his death. Almost everyone else had a worse death than him.

Agree - he was a complete POS, hated the little sodomite. I
I just finished the book after watching the series.
I loved the series and loved the book even more. There were a couple of very powerful scenes in the book that were changed for the series - i.e. Hinkeh's deatn, the ending, the mutiny. I actually liked Hinkey's death in the series better; I can't think of a good reason for the other changes. Imagine how the ending would have looked on the screen.
The actor that played Hinkey was awesome, as was Goodsir and Crozier. So much so that I pictured them as I was reading the book.

I liked the book a whole lot more than the show but I liked the show.
The book was a book on survival in tough conditions masquerading as a monster horror book. There didn’t need to be tiresome infighting.
I was a little annoyed with Fitzjames in the show despite him being s good character in the show because I liked his loyal and hopeless portrayal in the books so much more.
