Simon Scarrow does some interesting stuff. Has one long series about the roman legions focusing on 2 main characters and their adventures.

Also does one on Napoleon and the Duke of Wellington

I had read a lot of the roman series but fell off a bit (think i've read like 10 of the 15 or something). The Napoleon stuff was good that i remember as well

Wolf Hall and Bring up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel deal with the Tudors from Thomas Cromwell's perspective. Pretty impressive achievements. Cant wait for the next one.

I love Bernard Cornwell. His Arthur series is extraordinary.

I can't recommend a book with anymore fervor than Aztec by Greg Jennings. Easily the best book I have read in years.

Same here. I was pissed when realized they didn't have the 5th book at Audible
