Any thoughts on this series? Is it worth starting? I do enjoy sci-fi, but this looks like a serious investment of time. I was thinking about starting with the paperback for the first one, then maybe jump to the audiobook for the rest of them - although the audio sample reader has a wicked hard Maine accent.

I’ve passed over this one numerous times. I’d be interested on some opinions about rhis series as well.

I'm waiting for one of you to be the guinea pig on these books. I've read mixed reviews from "these novels are great!," to "the plot is too formulaic."

I've "read" the whole series. I say "read" because I listened to them on Audiobook. They're narrated by RC Bray and his performance is half the fun. Both he and the writer have a large following.
I highly recommend them with this caveat. You have to give the first book until @ Least Chapter 10. Thats where the magic happens.

So I've listened to almost every audiobook in the series and it's great but gets repetitive around book ~10 or so. The audiobooks are amazing, R C Bray does a great job.

You're better than me. I listened to the first one and the writing seemed like a lower grade version of the hunger games. The narrator had the same tone regardless of what was going on in the book and paused at random times. It was hard for me to follow. I will say that I remember it got a little better later in the book.

It gets repetitive a bit earlier in my opinion, but the first 4 or 5 books are worth it. The humor sets it apart.
