Don Winslow’s Cartel Trilogy.

Just finished “Power of the Dog,” an amazing, brutal piece of historical Fiction that Chronicles the rise of Mexican Drug cartels, from the 70’s to the 90’s. Exploring American complicity, Brutal drug wars, and broken loyalties and relationships, it was one of the most propulsive, enlightening, if ultimately terrifying books I’ve ever read. Just started the Cartel, and I’m completely engaged.

The Power of the Dog is beautifully written and one of my favorite books of all time.

His early stand alone books are terrific as well. “The death and life of Bobby Z “ is one of the funniest books I’ve ever read.

Once you're done with historical fiction...read this...I may or may not be related to the man...and have certainly spent many a summer at the man's house who was kidnapped and rescued by the Texas Rangers outlined in this book.

The whole trilogy is great imo. Some on here didn't care for The Border but I thought it was a worthy conclusion. I do think I would rank them:
