Napoleon "The Man Behind the Myth" by Adam Zamoysky. Really enjoyed it.

If you want a cradle to the grave story of Napoleon, this one is fantastic.

Dumb question but how detailed does this book go into his actual campaigns? Obviously I don't expect or even want battlefield maps and detailed tactics but does it go over each of main conflicts during the Napoleonic Wars (Why it happened, who was involved, what occurred, maybe a summary of the major battles, etc.?)

It's detailed. The book is absolutely massive.

Napoleon A Life is considered the preeminent book. It is a big block of a book sitting on my bookshelf. Kind of intimidating but can't wait to read. Love this guy. Truly fascinating individual.

Bumping to say I’m about a third of the way done with Napoleon: A Life by Roberts. It has been gripping and fantastic, especially the chapters on Napoleon’s original Italian conquests and campaign in Egypt. I couldn’t recommend it more.

The common, all encompassing recommendation when taking on this era is

Napoleon: A Life for the biographical aspect
The Campaigns of Napoleon for the military aspect
Citizens as the political / peoples aspect
