Finished at right at a week. Fastest i've read a book in a long time. Going to pick up the rest of the series tomorrow, great stuff
Nice. Most would argue that The Blade Itself is the weakest book of the original trilogy. I absolutely love it, but it only gets better.

Some things have to be done. It's better to do them, than to live with the fear of them.
After the original First Law trilogy and Best Served Cold I needed a break. I just picked up a Little Hatred from the library. Will I miss anything important by not reading the Heroes and Red Country first?

I wouldn't say you'd miss anything too important. The Heores is the only one of the stand alone books that help really help you in the Age of Madness trilogy. Mainly with understanding/knowing who and why certain people are in power. I wouldn't say it's crucial but it doesn't hurt to know that story.

It isn't crucial. I read Age of Madness before reading the stand-alone books.
