I just realized that this book was released today. I had no idea it was a thing. I just found out that it is part of a trilogy that are sequels to the First Law Trilogy

I’m a few hours into the audiobook. I’ve been going airing on this book for a while now. it’s set many years after the events of the OG trilogy. i’m hoping to get some glokta, logan, black dow appearances.

ETA: i forgot Dow was killed.

I've been meaning to get into the stand alone, only read first law. I absolutely loved, loved, loved the characters, several are up there with some of my favorites.

For me, the plot and setting didn't quite grab me as much as I was hoping, the characters definitely made up for it, but maybe its just a personal preference thing. I heard that he finished this second trilogy before putting out the first book so everything flowed and all the continuity checks out, etc. Definitely going to be picking these up.

Man, I just didnt dig the first law trilogy. I listened to them all.

I think Logan is in a fourth book, but IDK if I wanna commit to it.

i think the books you are thinking of are standalone so you don't have to commit to much.

I just loved Glokta and Logan so much, almost all of the northmen

Say one thing for Logen Ninefingers, say that he deserves his own standalone trilogy.

Well I have good news for you, the second book of the stand alones is all set in the north with a ton of northmen characters, and the first and third stand alones have completely different settings than the first trilogy.

So maybe they would be the best of both worlds for you. And they are better books IMO.

shite how?

"shite, this is a great book."

"shite, this book sucks."

"shite, my mind is blown."

What's the context of shite here?

I can’t really say much without spoilers. It ends with a cliffhanger, but i’m not sure if i love this book as much as the original trilogy. it’s great that we get some to hear from some of the past characters, but i’m not sure how much i like the new ones. I will say i wish we could get a Glokta stand-alone book. i love that self loathing cripple bastard.

Hands down the best character in the trilogy. I’d love a novel about his exploits in the Gurkish wars.

Generally I don't like prequels, but this would be one I'd be excited to read. Imagine a beautiful and vain Glotka getting his comeuppance after tempting fate one too many times.

I liked this book much more than the first book of the original trilogy. Not as good as the heroes or red country, but that would have been difficult.

Really liked savine Glotka, orso, and rikke, interested to see where he goes next with the plot
