Tricky case. If it was credit card fraud, Typically, the cardholder will not be liable for any fraudulent charge. A $20M card may be an exception but Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover all cover cardholders with a zero liability policy. It should be the card company trying to negotiate some type of recoup of funds.
