Eagles QB Michael Vick has been chosen by Philadelphia's Camelot Schools to be their commencement speaker next month. Camelot partners with the city's school district to offer transition services for at-risk youth facing behavioral and emotional issues. Vick was picked over Philly Mayor Michael Nutter and Dr. Arlene Ackerman, the school district's superintendent. Vice president of operations at Camelot Milton Alexander said...
quote:

"Based on Vick’s recent story of making a mistake, hitting rock bottom and having the courage to pick himself back up and work through difficult period of life, that was something we felt was very relevant to the student population and their story,"... "It will be something they will remember for the rest of their lives."
You think Vick is a good choice?

Meh. Chances are most of those kids won't have so much of a snowball's chance in hell at becoming a professional athlete. Would've been much better served to find someone who is a successful business person who grew up as an at-risk kid and is actually using their educational experience for good.

That's just me though.

I guess it's a good choice. He served his 2 yrs and has done almost all the right things since he's been out. I give him the benefit of the doubt until I see otherwise.

Sure. He can tell them that if they are extremely talented at something then they can get away with almost anything.

What exactly did he get away with?? Dumbass people like you are the ones that sensationalized his whole story. He killed a few dogs? Did that ruin the man for life? He served more time for that then some people do for rape and murder of humans.

The fact is that he served his time for what he did, and pretty much lost everything he had.

As far as right now, he has payed his dues for his crime. I'm not sure he should speak at a high school graduation, but give the man a break.
