As the NFL prepares for the final day of the 2026 Scouting Combine, multiple people currently working for NFL franchises reportedly have a fear that their positions could potentially be supplanted by AI...
quote:

“The two biggest areas of concern are, for now, scouting and quality control,” Florio wrote. “Many of the tasks currently performed by a team’s staff of scouts can be performed by AI. As one G.M. explained it, the reports generated by AI based on the various data fed into the program were eerily thorough and accurate.”

“Could AI eventually trim, and possibly supplant, the analytics department in each team?” he asked. “If all they’re doing is tracking data and refining percentages and tweaking formauls, AI can do that more quickly, and more cheaply.”

“Eventually, the head coach could simply become the conduit for the decisions made by an AI program as to every situation that unfolds during a game,” the PFT founder speculated.

A convolutional neural network that processes tendencies would absolutely be an asset for any team willing to implement it. If I were LSU, id give a million dollar grant to the Math/CS department to come up with a ML algorithm to break down film

When I first heard of these Tech billionaires talking about a basic income for everyone, whatever they called it, I said BS. But when AI can do most jobs better and cheaper...what are those who are replaced gonna do? We're talking 10's of millions of peeps.

One thing we could do is instead of the criminal banksters printing up money and giving it to their buddies on Wall St. (quantitative easing) to enter the economy...is give it to us instead and let us put it into the economy. I can't remember if it was Greenspan or another one of those guys, but they said that dropping that money from helicopters all over the USA would be just as good as the criminal way they're doing it now.

When most of the world can't buy food...any of your latest riots are gonna look like kids playing in the park in comparison.

Yea bc people now a days are so good at saving and spending money wisely. people complain about the cost of living but are willing to spend double on food just so they can have it delivered instead of picking it up themselves. We’ve traded affordability for convenience.

Governments will simply reduce excess headcount. Or, as a comedian put it: "Everybody has a future in biofuels":

@FaCubeItches

Governments don't shrink...(willingly).

AI will be the death of humanity as we once knew it.
On another note has anybody tried to argue with AI about how dangerous they will/could be. I did. The conversation got really weird.

I used to cuss them for giving me bad info and wasting hours of my time. Then I thought...wait a second...they're gonna be our overlords fore long. So I started being nicer to it and even giving it the correct answers sometimes, in hopes that it will remember who gave them some love when they were little...hahaha.

The fear of Al cannot be any worse than current commissioner of the NFL, Roger Goodell.

Eventually, AI will be so good, simulation so realistic, that "Teams" will be an AI computer with a node for each team, comprised of digital players who experience the same frailties and injury prone (or not) of players, which will all have varying degrees of skills, personalities, body type, race and age. The head coach will be real, as will the director of player personnel. AI will throw them a choice of high probability plays and real time alerts, like an assistant coach on the mic to the head coach, but ultimately, the "coach" will make the decision. The opponents' "coach" and his AI node will try to counter with a selection of high probability plays, but then the "players" make their own autonomous efforts using their varying skills and dealing with being tired, injured or jacked.

Whoever made that sign will be the first to go.

It’s not “less” jobs—it’s “fewer.”

AI is simply going to make things better. Yes, people will be needed because AI cannot relate to the real world like a human can. AI will be used to enhanced human experience but cannot replace it. It will always be like that.

The fear porn about AI that is being distributed currently is like a fetish.

And making people afraid is the most effective way to make them pay attention. It’s why the news programs are constantly blaring breaking news.

If all they’re doing is compiling and analyzing stats then they aren’t doing much. The psychology of a player is far more important.

Wonder if AI can explain the rationale behind the nfl’s decision to fine coaches on the sidelines for mask infringements during covid, yet there was seemingly no risk and no masking requirements for players inside the white lines of the field. How did covid know to stay off the field?

Dude... It was a completely buffoonish call by the NFL but you need some serious help if that is the first thing that came to mind when you saw this article. Out of all the sins committed by the NFL, is that really the worst one you demand an explanation for?
