Hurley, 43, had been the head coach at Buffalo the past two seasons. The former Duke star is 42-20 and helped lead the Bulls to the NCAA tournament last season.

"With Bobby at the helm, we will provide the necessary resources to compete within our state, our conference and across the nation," athletic director Ray Anderson said in a statement. "We are intent on becoming an elite men's basketball program."
Hurley will replace Herb Sendek, who was fired after nine seasons with the Sun Devils and only two NCAA tournament appearances.
