Coming off winning his first NBA championship, Dallas Mavericks guard Jason Terry told Yahoo Sports why he should join the ranks of Mavs retired jersys along side Rolando Blackman, Brad Davis and eventually Dirk Nowitzki. Terry said...
quote:

"To see my jersey go up there … a guy that has sacrificed so much by coming to Dallas and over the years, all the hard work we put in to try to be champions, and then to be the only point guard to take their team to the Finals in '05-'06, but to finally get there this year and win it?
"Sixth Man of the Year two years ago — [and] should've been the last three years? (laughs) You know what? I'm very humble, I'm a hungry guy, but sometimes you got to toot your own horn. And if it means telling them, 'Move over, Ro, move over, Brad Davis,' then that's what you got to do."
I know he's all buzzed still over their win a week ago, but let's get this JET back on the ground and out of the clouds. If he wins another, then maybe we'll talk. I would think Jason Kidd after starting and eventually ending his career in Dallas has a better chance before Terry, no? What do you think?

they must have asked him this as a follow up to him saying, "there's some new numbers to go up, move over Ro and Brad" at the celebration inside the AAC that followed Thursday's parade. He pointed up to the Blackmon & Davis banners when he said it.

He couldn't sit down for the last half of the celebration. He kept getting up, grabbing a mike and blurting stuff out to the crowd.

Yea, it is silly for him to say all of that and he should have just told Yahoo he got carried away.

Dirk's will go up for sure and maybe Kidd's since he has the weird, long Mavs history.

Davis' # should have never gone up and Aguirre's should be there with Ro's but I don't see Terry getting it. Unless they let Don Carter or whoever decided to put Davis' # up make the decision on this.

I would retire his number... IF he takes a huge pay cut after next year and retires a Mav. The Mavs would not have won the title without Jet.

The problem w/ LeBron is he's good, but he's not a winner. The Heat win in 5 without him on the team.

With Terry, I think retiring his number is stretching it, but I definitely think he's a big part of the reason that they've won over the past several years, and his performance in the finals was clutch. I'd take him over LeBron in the post season any day. Give me LeBron in the regular season when there's no "pressure"
