Pipe down young man. Saban is slobbering for every word so he can write it down and start studying it.

You absolutely don't need a DTQB. In college it's easier to run with one IF he can throw as well but if you have an adequate passing QB who can move in the pocket and pick up positive yards when plays break down then that's really all you need. Of course that's with a run game and OL which can actually pass block. Especially in this type of offense, it's much better to have a guy who can make the offense run efficiently, and who can pass the ball. The DL can't just come after the QB in this offense, well they can but if they get caught doing it will likely result in a huge play. I'm not saying that it's doesn't work better if you have a Cam Newton or a D Watson but those guys were exceptional QBs. Pitts offense is a perfect example that you don't need one to score lots of points and if Pitt had LSUs DC/defense they would have won the national championship or would have been there for sure. LSU will look at getting the best QB they can find, whether that be a pro style or duel threat. I think that's the way to go for LSU until we can consistently recruit top notch DT guys and then I would still never limit my options. That's crazy. If you can get the #1 pro style guy you don't pass on him because there is a #3 DT guy out there you have a shot with. You recruit both and see who comes.

Sounds like they want Etling to call plays himself if once he's advanced enough to do so and if they are being affective that way. I'm ready for this season

Ditto. If you are running a spread, up-tempo, misdirection, option offense the Defense is forced to try and react to you. The one 'tiny' problem is that Etling does not provide a legit 11th Gap Dual Threat. In 4 separate polls he does not make the top 10 QBs in the SEC. The top-ranked teams have top-ranked DTQBs.

Canadas offense doesn't need a DTQB. Pitts QB last year was not DT. They just need a QB that can execute the shovel pass lol

"How the ACC used coaches, quarterbacks to overtake the SEC in 2016": The ACC had a 10-4 record for the year vs. the SEC. Pitt finished 8-5 and unranked losing to 6-6 Northwestern. Canada was there 1 year after being fired from NC State. His Offense would be more competitive and versatile with a dual threat like Hurts, Francois, a Mariotta, a Watson, or even a Greg Ward at Quarterback. Game Manager AJ MCarron lost 2 in a row his last year to DTQBs. The game has changed. Keep laughing.

Pitt lost games because their offense had to score 40+ points to win games because their defense was so putrid. Defense wins games and championships. If not for Canada's offense Clemson would have skulldrug Pitt. And Pitt's pocket QB beat Clemson's DTQB.

Oh my god. The most telling item is him saying the difference is learning to take what the defense gives you. That was the most frustrating part of the Miles offense. There were plays where everyone knew where we were running, box stacked, we STILL ran it and got stuffed. Praying for that to be different under Canada
