LSU defensive tackle Travonte Valentine spoke to the media earlier this week for the first time since returning to the team last month.

Valentine played 33 snaps vs. Wisconsin, which was his first game at the Division I level after spending last year at two different junior colleges.

The road back to LSU was a long one for Valentine but Baton Rouge is where he knew he wanted to be. Per NOLA.com:
quote:

"I've been saying that since I was (at Arizona Western)," Valentine told reporters on Tuesday evening in his first public comments since rejoining the Tigers in August. "I've been wanting to come back here ever since I touched down in Yuma. I said as soon I get finished and get everything situated, I said I'm going back to LSU. That's what I felt like."

"I had my doubts (about returning) but at the same time I had to remind myself of where I was at," Valentine said. "LSU is home. It's a great place to be. I don't see why other people would sit there and choose a different school after being here."
As far as his first game as a Tiger last weekend, Valentine graded his play as a "C" and is working more on his conditioning so that he doesn't get as tired during games.

He also said he trying to drop 25-pounds in four weeks to get down to 330-pounds.

Welcome home to Travonte! Please keep your priorities in order: Behavior off the field and maintain your academics. If you do this and improve your conditioning and footballs skills, you will certainly get a good contract in the NFL.
