LSU SUPER BOWL STREAK AT 17 STRAIGHT AS TRIO OF TIGERS ARE IN GAME

BATON ROUGE – A trio of former LSU football standouts, including two that won national championships with the Tigers, are heading to the Super Bowl as Ricky Jean Francois, Donnie Jones and Jalen Mills will meet when the New England Patriots face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, February 4 in Minneapolis.

It’s the 17th year in a row that a former Tiger will play in the Super Bowl. That streak is the longest in the Southeastern Conference and dates back to Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002 when Kevin Faulk made his first Super Bowl appearance with the New England Patriots.

Jean Francois, a defensive lineman for the Patriots, will be making his second Super Bowl appearance, while Jones and Mills, both members of the Philadelphia Eagles, will be playing in the Super Bowl for the first time.

Jean Francois’ first Super Bowl appearance came in 2013 as a member of the San Francisco 49ers. In a game played in New Orleans, the 49ers lost to the Baltimore Ravens, 34-31.

Kevin Faulk holds the LSU record for most Super Bowl appearances (5) and Super Bowl titles (3).

Can you believe that Cleveland had both Belicheck and Saban on their coaching staff at the same time!? They fired them both. I hate both of them, but Dang! Cleveland really screwed the pooch on that one!

Is Donnie Jones going to be the longest NFLSU player ever in the league? LINK

I wish Bennie Logan was still with the Eagles so he could have played in the SB.

Who has the longest streak nationwide?

Looks like it's Nebraska, 25 straight and counting

But this streak includes practice squad or injured reserve players... That's lame. LINK

I usually go for whoever has more Tigers, but it's really hard to pull for Filthadelphia

But you can pull for the pats? Foh

Philly fans are more fanatical than tiger fans, so there is that common bond. Besides, pats & gumps fell out of the same hole.
