The QB Room Has More Confidence & Control Of The Offense This Year, Brian Kelly Says

On Thursday, head coach Brian Kelly was asked about LSU's offense this fall compared to last season and talked about the experience at quarterback that will help the Tigers in 2023.

"When you have an incumbent quarterback, and certainly Daniels and Nussmier can both obviously run the offense... They can get you into and get you out of bad plays," Kelly said.

"They make the coach look really good. That’s the honest truth."

Kelly also explained how the quarterbacks will have more control in LSU's offense this season:

"This offense and its structure is set to eliminate negative plays. And the quarterbacks can control it. We have given them more control this year, and in the running game as well, where they are setting the running game."

"I would give a lot of it to the quarterback and his ability to run this offense with a lot more confidence and control."

"Experienced players in second year have more more confidence and control than players in first year of a new system." As obvious as it should be that quarterbacks should improve we're used to a long history of it not happening, so this is refreshing.

Actually is you look at the three good qb’s we had the last 20 years, all made huge jumps between their first and second years. Russell, Mett, and Burrow. Flynn only started one year so can’t add him. JD5 had the best first year of all these qb’s

That would be so much better than all eleven offensive players looking at the sideline for a play every down. That is time consuming at its best.
