Gilbert, a former five-star tight end from Marietta, Georgia, signed with LSU in 2020 and played as a true freshman with the Tigers last season. He started in the first eight games, catching 35 receptions for 368 yards and two touchdowns but opted out of the season after the loss to Alabama and entered the transfer portal on Jan. 5.

He recently committed and de-committed from Florida.

2020 Was a year everyone wants to forget. Time to wipe that slate clean. It was disappointing when he left but its exciting if he turns it around and balls out.

obviously, something happened to the kid off the field. people on here and on the radio vaguely mention it and dance around the subjust. what, i have no clue but i would love to find out. My guess is he is in town for a the birth of his kid, a warrant or a subpeona. hell of a talent and would love to see him back on the team if he can get his head right.

Please gave mamma get your shite, then head east on I 10 and then north for whatever highway goes to Georgia. This dude is poison and will kill the Locke room. We are hearing how much better the players are feeling and how lively the practices are, don't need this crap.

Question should be, are we better off with him and his upside on our side or the opponents? I say, welcome back if he wants to be here. New staff could be the selling point!

1. He may be the TE with the highest skill set and best tools, but "best TE" is yet to be seen. 2. If he comes back to the team and contributes, working like everyone else, then I'm happy. We will see.

I think he has too many people influencing him.

Arik must of made a wrong turn on Interstate 10 and thought he was in Georgia some where but found out he was Red Stick !!

This character is divisive and has the potential to cause trouble....I like Cole Taylor who is working hard every day to improve, and who is the only one on the team smart enough to let a Florida player toss his shoe and win the game for us....think also of Jalen Shead, Nick Storz, and of course, Aaron Moffitt...those guys don't cause trouble. They just work hard every day to get better...That's what we need from everyone....

Hopefully it was just to pick up some items he forgot on his way out of town.

I would take him back only to keep him from going somewhere else. Opting out after the Bama loss, earns him a place in the dog house all spring. Definitely not dependable.

Probably not a Team Player? Has the "I" or "Me" philosophy!

My concern is if he is wanted back by the players. It already seems like Gilbert was a divisive player. LSU or any team does not need a problem player in the locker room no matter how good he may be.

I don't care what they say, this kid is a generational talent at the tight end position. If he wants back in then It should happen asap. If the coaching staff is good as they say they are, then they should be able to teach and coach him up to the LSU standard which would be good for him and the team.

Some players may have all the talent in the world but they are not coachable.

Agreed, as long as it doesn't cost us a unified locker room.

Who knows what happened,, but if he left on bad terms and wanted back I would either tell him to kick rocks or let him stay and ride the pine. Or if it wasn’t bad terms welcome him back and let’s move on.

It is not a coincidence that we beat Florida and Ole Miss after he left.
