Ross Dellenger with Yahoo Sports reports that discussions are taking place at the AFCA Convention in Charlotte this week on eliminating fake injuries during games.

Dellenger suggests that any injured player would need to be sidelined for the rest of the drive but that coaches could use a timeout to reinstate the player.

My rule is better: if a olayer is not getting up and shows signs of injury, they sit out the series until clearwd by trainer

It's an easy decision - If the injury warrants stopping play, player misses rest of the drive.

And if the team has no timeout to reinstate the player, the player cannot return for the remainder of the game, including any overtime.

That’s just stupid and you do realize that will hurt teams with nothing more than cramps. Why would the pullout be longer than the drive just because a team has no timeouts?

Been trying to pitch this idea for so long. If someone goes down for injury, then they need to be evaluated to not risk further "injury". And that should last at least an entire drive. The problem is that most fake injuries occur on defense, and it will be very easy for a coach from Mississippi to just send in a walk-on player on the D-Line after the offense makes a substitution to cramp up during a play.

Definitely a need for some penalty here. I’d also change the fumbling the ball through the end zone rule. No way the punishment should result in a touchback for the other team. Bring the ball back to the 25 or 30 with maybe a loss of down. Anything other than complete loss of possession. Too harsh.

Always fun when someone posts and demonstrates ignorance about the basic fundamentals of football.

There has to be an exception for the QB... there are too many sketchy coaches out there that will headhunt to try to knock the guy out for a play, which turns into an entire drive.

The defense wants to knock the QB (and any other ball carrier) out every play of every game.

Yes, this is the most urgent issue in CFB today, not NIL/portal/tampering.

I 100 percent agree with you NIL, etc. This can be handled too, player goes down and he’s out the next for plays.
