Notre Dame beat writer Pete Sampson reported Tuesday that new LSU coach Brian Kelly tried to hire Ohio State running back coach Tony Alford to join his staff in Baton Rouge but that he plans to remain in Columbus.

When the news broke on Monday evening that LSU would be hiring Kelly, reports surfaced that defensive back coach and recruiting coordinator Corey Raymond along with running back coach Kevin Faulk would be retained on his staff.
