LSU coach Ed Orgeron was on a Citrus Bowl Teleconference Sunday afternoon and said that he expects junior edge rusher Arden Key to play in the Citrus Bowl against Notre Dame. Per The Advocate:
quote:

“I expect him to play,” Orgeron said Sunday on a bowl teleconference. “I can’t say that now (for sure). Been out on the road recruiting. As far as I know, he’s going to play.”
Key has played with a variety of injuries this season and underwent surgery for a broken finger last week. If he ends up playing vs. the Irish in the Citrus Bowl it will likely be his last game as a Tiger as he is expected to the enter the NFL Draft after the game.

LSU and Notre Dame play Jan. 1 in Orlando, FL at noon CT on ABC.

Expect a Clowney-type hit after his Clowney-type sit down.

I'm from Mobile and growing up I never missed any Senior Bowl games but all my life I've wanted the Senior Bowl to allow NFL ready juniors like Arden Key to play in that game. Just change the name from Senior Bowl to something else. Anyway, I'm pretty sure Key will make some NFL team a damn good football player. I wish him the very best.

I agree that he needs to play in the bowl game to show that he is truly back. I'm sure that the scouts have concerns about him because of how bad of shape he was in to start the year. One of the main reason of this is because, despite missing the summer drills before his freshman year, he came in tip top shape and was an immediate contributor with less than a month of practice.

meh, hasn't show any effort on the field this year. Don't care one way or the other.

He sure showed me effort when LSU came to Tuscaloosa. You're not being fair at all in your assessment.

It would be one last workout for NFL scouts and given the up and down season he’s had with the injuries, I think it would be in his best interest to play and show what he can do before the draft.
