LA Appeals Court Sides With Players As DA Rips Greg Sankey: ‘He’s Going To Ruin The SEC'

A Louisiana appeals court has sided with the players in the ongoing eligibility battle involving the SEC and NCAA.

A three-judge panel from Louisiana’s First Circuit Court of Appeal upheld the lower court’s ruling Monday night, delivering another setback to the SEC in the high-profile case involving 32 athletes seeking an additional year of eligibility.

Former Ole Miss players Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris are among the plaintiffs. Both hoped to play for LSU this season after attending NFL training camps, but the Tigers ultimately filled their final roster spots after the SEC threatened potential penalties, including possible expulsion from the conference.

District Attorney Tony Clayton blasted SEC commissioner Greg Sankey following the latest appeal. Per WAFB:

“They just won’t quit,” Clayton said. “Greg Sankey is a misguided missile, and he’s going to ruin the SEC.”

Clayton added that the issue remains significant because of its potential impact on the other players involved in the lawsuit.
