The NCAA has approved a one-year waiver that will allow college football teams to sign up to seven players to replace those who transfer out of the program. Per ESPN:
quote:

Looking to address the growing number of transfers, the NCAA Division I Council approved a one-year waiver Tuesday that will allow college football teams to sign up to seven players to replace those who leave.

Current NCAA rules state a team can sign no more than 25 players to a scholarship in any year. That includes incoming high school prospects and college transfers. The waiver will allow teams to sign 25 players, plus as many as seven transfers -- not high school players -- to replace those who transfer out in the first term.

So a coach could help those players who don't pan out to transfer and then sign a new crop. Sort of like a recruiting second chance. This should be interesting.

why are so many people worried about other people's money?

Why limit it to first term? The players worth getting are not first term players. They are Sophomores or Juniors, like... Joe Burrow.

It says you can replace players who transfer out in the first term, not that the replacement has to be first term. It really makes more sense if "First term" refers to Summer / Fall rather than a given year of eligibility anyway.

I don't recall Alabama having an issue losing their numbers because of this transfer portal problem so why would they give a crap and advocate to help other programs deal with it? But it wouldn't be a... a tuesday without a tiger whining about Alabama and thinking there is a grand birmingham centered conspiracy.

If Saban got his way, he’d probably want LSU to deal with the shite show they created and all their players bailing. This rule doesn’t help Saban you moron.
