Per LSUSports.net: BATON ROUGE — Max Johnson tossed five touchdown passes and the Tigers defense continued to show improvement, as LSU defeated Central Michigan, 49-21, on Saturday night in Tiger Stadium.

Johnson, who played only 2 1/2 quarters, finished 26-of-35 passing for 372 yards with five touchdowns and an interception. The sophomore has thrown for at least three TD’s in each of his first five starts in his LSU career.

LSU, which started three true freshman receivers, spread the ball around to eight different receivers including freshman Deion Smith who caught five passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns.

So much better in the effort department. Would have beaten UCLA with this kinda effort. Oh well. Just keep moving forward. MSU next week. Geaux Tigers!!!

Happy to see the team making improvements and looking more sound and crisp. Still a couple busted assignments, but much improved. Max still throwing into really good coverage too much...that'll bite him later when receivers can't just bail him out because the DB is just an inferior talent. But man...Kiner, wow.
