During his post-practice press conference on Wednesday, head coach Brian Kelly was asked about the new faces in the secondary and how he feels about the group.

Kelly said there is still work to be done but the veterans in that group are making him feel good.
quote:

"They’ve done well but there’s still a lot of work to be done there," Kelly said.

"We have three safeties that are really solid for us. Andre Sams has been outstanding. Greg Brooks has battled a little bit of heat illness, but he’s back. Major Burns has had a really good camp. Having three veteran safeties helps you a lot. And Sage Ryan has had a really good camp, playing nickel and a little bit of corner for us. So to have four veteran players there kind of balances out a little bit of the inexperience at the cornerback position for us."

"(Duce) Chestnut has played a lot of football. So to have him there has been a nice addition because he’s a calming influence out there. With Chestnut, Sage, Brooks, Sams, and Burns... you virtually have a veteran secondary other than one cornerback position. When you break it all down, I'm feeling pretty good about where we are at this point."

If the Dline and LBs really perform, that will take care of any concerns at CB....
