Multiple sources have confirmed that LSU freshman tight end Arik Gilbert is officially in the NCAA transfer portal.

Head coach Ed Orgeron talked about Gilbert on Tuesday and said that he remains in contact with his family and hopes they can get him back.

Gilbert, a former 5-star recruit from Marrieta, Ga., opted out of the season the week after LSU's loss to Alabama on Dec. 5. He started in the first eight games for LSU, catching 35 receptions for 368 yards and two touchdowns.

He would be a good fit at Alabama. I hope he goes there

I don’t care where he goes. He can’t block. He runs poor routes and he was easily covered by SEC Linebackers. If he was the highest rated TE in recruiting history then I seriously question the guys who rated him and their judgement. Bye.

After all of the shenanigans, If he really wanted to play college football at LSU he would not have "finally, after all this time" decided to enter the Portal. You can bet that he's going to Georgia or Alabama or maybe even Tennessee.

Maybe he really just needs time to work some things out. Be happy to kiss and make up if he decides to return...

If they don't want to be at LSU, fine. Next man up. Rather have a player who wants to play for LSU and not get swayed by another program or be homesick. That way , you know they are giving more.
