LSU senior linebacker Duke Riley was named LSU’s Most Valuable Player during the team's annual football banquet here Sunday night.

Junior fullback J.D. Moore was named the team’s top student-athlete. Per LSUSports.net:

Riley, from New Orleans, ranked second on the team with 85 as he helped a Tiger defense rank among the top three in the SEC in several categories, including scoring defense (16.4), total defense (323.0) and rushing defense (121.8).

Moore, a member of the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, has a 3.99 grade point average in architecture. The Ruston native caught eight passes for 45 yards and rushed for 17 yards on seven carries. More importantly, he helped pave the back for running backs Derrius Guice and Leonard Fournette, who both set the school’s single-game rushing record at different times this year.

I had Duke tabbed as an impact player as a freshman. Always making tackles on ST. Had good speed, and always around the ball. Of course, Les would only use him on special teams mostly. Wasted his talent for 3 years. He will be a good pro for a team other than the one in New Orleans, as they don't draft players from LSU.

Without junior J.D.Moore's crushing and precision blocks there would not have been two single game rushing records by Fournette and then Guice this year! Don't think he will be an architect for a while after NFL scouts check him out after his 2017 season blocking for Guice .

Knowing his daddy and his momma, I know they are so proud of him as is all the DTR community. Way to go Duke! Hope all your dreams come true.
