LSU freshman offensive lineman Chidi Valentine-Okeke is expected to redshirt this upcoming season, according to a report from The Advocate.
quote:

He’s expecting to take a redshirt this season and use that time to try and earn the starting left tackle job next season.

“Coach Grimes and Miles are great coaches,” Valentine-Okeke said. “They’re going to help me to move higher up in football. I trust them. I have to work hard and listen to them to become a great player.”
Valentine-Okeke, a 6-foot-6, 315-pound prospect who is originally from Nigeria, started playing football when he was 16-years old.

I don't hate the move, but START next year at LT with no experience? I don't know about that one. That gig has Etan Pocic's name written all over it.

Great move, learn footwork and conditioning work. This time next year he will be 330 pounds and a dominant
player.

If he's good enough to be starting left tackle next year, he won't be here 5 years. Hopefully, Pocic comes back next year to anchor at left tackle.

He's not eligible to play this year anyway. Its a TV situation, except in CVO's case its not because he doesn't give a shite, it because he has only lived in the states a few years. He's going to practice with the team and is expected to be cleared in the spring semester.

I think its a solid move for the young man. With the right coaching, he should become an absolute stud.
