LSU OG Kardell Thomas To Have Surgery After Latest Injury, Orgeron Says

LSU head coach Ed Orgeron met with the media on Saturday after the team's scrimmage and announced that freshman offensive lineman Kardell Thomas will need to have surgery after suffering an injury in practice this week.

Orgeron did not give a timetable for his return but did not rule him out for the season.

Thomas, a five-star prospect from Southern Lab in Baton Rouge, was expected to give LSU much-needed depth on the offensive line this season.

Orgeron added that freshman offensive tackle Anthony Bradford has moved to right guard and is more suit for that position right now.

Tough blow for sure I wish this young man a full and speedy recovery. He still has five years to play four so he will be back for sure. He oughta work on his upper body strength whilst resting his leg.

What part of his body? Timetable? I mean, what’s the big secret? He’s having surgery, so why so tight lipped? It doesn’t make any sense. Maybe I won’t by anymore season tickets until everyone is a little more forthcoming

AND This is why you get top talent and not a 270 project that will take 2 or 3 years to contribute.

Getting the top prospects that are ready to play early on the offensive line is every coaches goal obviously but it's not always an option. Coach O gets the best players that he can. Sometimes that means you have to get someone that's more of a project and Coach them up.

OL is the hardest to recruit! There are very few 5 star OLmen coming out of high school that are truly ready to play in D1 college!
