The Football Power Index (FPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily.

USC is in a free fall right now. These so called experts try to find any kind of way to put bums at the top of the ranks.Hell, I could come up with a ranking system that would justify southern should be #1 in the country and that system would be just as stupid as this one.

Yeah the USC ranking is a bit perplexing. FPI is an interesting measure and it is designed to give more credence to the meaningful minutes of the game, i.e. it doesn't care about final score when there were garbage touchdowns scored at the end.

LSU has impressive wins overall, but being so close to EMU for so long has severely hurt their FPI.
