Lacy, a 6-3, 213-pound receiver from Thibodaux, La., entered the transfer portal last weekend and was offered by LSU this Monday. He picked LSU over offers from schools like Oklahoma, Auburn, Ole Miss, Penn State, and many others.

He caught a team-high 28 passes for 364 yards and four touchdowns during his freshman season in 2020 and caught 22 passes for 304 yards and six touchdowns this past season. He will have three years of eligibility at LSU.

LSU has now added seven players to the roster from the transfer portal this offseason:

OT Miles Frazier - FIU
LS Slade Roy - East Carolina
CB Mekhi Garner - ULL
S Joe Foucha - Arkansas
DB Greg Brooks Jr. - Arkansas
RB Noah Cain - Penn State
WR Kyren Lacy - ULL

Former LSU quarterback Myles Brennan also withdrew his name from the portal and is returning to the team.

I'm just as excited as the next guy when we land the high profile 4 and 5 star players out of highschool but I'm telling you right, this transfer portal could be a blessing in disguise in 2022. This staff isn't just bringing in bodies, these are immediate impact players whether or not they begin the season in a starting role. Quality depth is being built by recruiting players who want to be here and I believe the program turnaround will be quicker than most are anticipating.

As Coach Kelly said during a recent interview, his plan is to lock down the state and then cheery pick outside. With Frank Wilson back in the fold, it is doable. The one thing I am interested in seeing (as others have stated) is whether Coach Kelly can instill a "team" mantra instead of the "me" culture starting back in the Miles days.

Cheery would be great, but Cherry might be better.

This is a year to refill the roster with young men of character. The high school recruits have been justifiably spooked by the transition from CEO to CBK. So transfer portal it is! Doesn’t mean we can’t benefit from adding experienced young men who have already put on the 20 lbs needed, along with college competition, to weather these times. Not sure there is any other way to get through a very needed re-make of the program. I like the direction we are going.

Brian Kelly understands, get players from Louisiana who want to play for LSU and create a culture like it was before O. It started slipping with Miles. I have a feeling CBK will establish a great culture of pride, winning and accountability. Let's Geaux!

Good size, two years of consistent playing time in college with three years remaining. Rejected offers from other SEC teams to sign with LSU. Understands the challenge of playing in the SEC and has embraced it. Solid replacement for the wide receivers that have left via the portal.

No worries they will be in here shortly to tell you stars dont matter and justin jefferson was a 2 star. I love these guys are coming home but we aint beating bama with a team of 2 and 3 stars. Kelly will have to bring in top classes for that. He gets a pass this year but recruiting better pick up starting next year.

The guy was getting transfer offers from SEC teams. His high school star rating really doesn't matter anymore.

This is a great pick up. Led ULL in receiving and has been offered by some big time programs.

Checked out his high school video. Good size, hands and athleticism. Seems to lack elite speed. Reminds of Bech. Would be good possession receiver. Maybe Bech grows a bit into elite catching TE. Those two with Boutte and any one or two of the others already on roster should be formidable.

Great. We’re going to become U LA-LA East or what? Not thrilled. Don’t think CBK should be looking there. What about the transfer from OU? Now that would be a nice pick up

Some people are just lazy. The kid was offered by LSU, Auburn, OU and Ole Miss when he entered the portal. I guess, in your infinite wisdom, you are better at WR analysis than Lane Kiffin?

I've seen Lacy catch a few for the Cajuns, and I can tell you this, he can hang on when hit by a crowd over the center of the field.

I feel like LSU has more pressing needs than Group of 5 WR's with this stat line: 22 passes for 304 yards and six touchdowns
