LSU Football Ranked No. 12 In ESPN's 2017 Way-Too-Early Top 25
by ChickenMay 2, 2017

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports
Here is ESPN's take on the upcoming season:

Outlook: Ed Orgeron's first spring did little to alleviate LSU fans' lingering concerns about the team's offense. Returning starting quarterback Danny Etling struggled mightily during the spring game, and then he underwent minor back surgery when spring practice was over. The bad news for new offensive coordinator Matt Canada: Neither Justin McMillan nor early enrollee Lowell Narcisse seemed ready to push Etling.

Now now children. Play nice! It's only spring! Plenty of time to hurl insults at each other in August, when practice actually means something and we'll have a clearer understanding of who is starting where. Either way, I'll tell you who I'm pulling for: The guys the coaches put on the field! Geaux Tigers ??

Stop dreaming Etling really does suck. Toughness doesn't mean you can play quarter back. You gotta has some skills along with that toughness.

Why is it hate to tell the truth. It does nothing for LSU this year or next to start Etling. What does it do to prepare the team for 2018 with no Guice? What does it do win more than 9-10 games in 2017? I've repeated this over again, but with all the problems in the past 3 years, LSU's record has pretty much been 8-5, 10-3, 9-4, when you and in the canceled rent-a-wins. LSU should be around that no matter who plays at QB. Why not build a young guy's confidence for the future instead of getting a similar record with a mediocre vet?

Lets hope so. I am tired of all these so called fans making excuses for Etling. He sucks, let's call it like it is and stop pussy footing around LSU's Achilles heel.

@whynotme
he doesn't suck. not at all. is he elite? no. but he is absolutely every bit as talented as any other hack qb bama has trotted out the past few years. lets not blame all of the team's shortcomings on one person or position. whynotu? you've probably sucked your whole life thats why

I agree. LSU will have plenty of time to prove that they are worthy of the Top 10.

I don't understand the Auburn love, and as usual Georgia is ranked way too high.

blah blah blah. no fricks given about ESPN's list. do they even have any experts left on staff to make such a list?
Reply45 months

Fair point but I think the reasons are because they see a ton of 4 and 5 star talent all over the field and a new offensive coordinator and QB coach which were the weak links last year.

No need to rush Narcisse onto the field -- give him a year to learn the system and get fully healthy. And no mention at all of Lindsey Scott? Hmmm

The apparently does know that LN is 4th string. Kinda of what happens when reporters who don't go to practice have to write articles.

Mcmillan and Scott "pushed" Etling plenty. Everyone not named Etling were victims of the rep gobbler.
