LSU will be fine for fans rushing the field after the Ole Miss victory.
Crystal LoGiudice-USA TODAY Sports
The SEC announced on Monday that LSU will be fined for when the fans rushed the field after the Tigers 10-7 over No. 3 Ole Miss on Saturday: Per SECSports.net:
quote:

"While we understand the excitement and enthusiasm that are produced by a victory, it must be emphasized that significant risk of injury for student-athletes and fans alike can result from incidents such as these," said SEC commissioner Mike Slive.

The policy imposes financial penalties for violations in all sports sponsored by the SEC at the discretion of the Commissioner. Institutional penalties range from $5,000 for a first offense to fines of up to $25,000 for a second offense and up to $50,000 for a third and subsequent offenses. If an institution is penalized and subsequently does not have a violation for a period of three years from the date of the last violation, that subsequent violation shall be considered a second offense.

LSU will incur a fine of $5,000 because it is its first offense since the league's access to competition area policy went into effect on December 1, 2004.

As a student speaking, I think people who don't go to school here anymore can honestly shut tf up. Don't flatter yourself into thinking people care about your irrelevant opinions. We can't do right with you people. Either y'all complain we leave early, or we're immature for storming the field. I'm sorry y'all didn't have an exciting opportunity to show our appreciation and excitement, but don't knock ours.

"Danger to student athletes"

Concussions are fine, but running on the field is bad... How many student athletes have died or been paralyzed from fans celebrating?

It is, but you don't hear me bashing you for any actions you did while you were in the moment.
Rather than congratulate the team and be positive that the fans were so into the game, people are focusing on what they perceive to be negatives.
My point is this: y'all are saying it's tacky and cost us money, but quite frankly-the tuition I paid for this semester would cover the fine. Find something better to do with your time than hate on part of the same fan base as you. Grow up, you're out of college. (Not directed towards you specifically, but towards LSU fans bickering about something minuscule rather than being happy for the win)

el oh el at the people who thinks that's just students on the field. I agree in some aspects of not rushing the field, this is ole miss , but it was a great game and LSU did beat the number 3 team in the country. After all the LSU fair weather who keep calling for a decline and miles head I think this was an exciting and a great win, so rushing the field was called for.

I think it was the Bama 2000 game (but could be wrong about the game) where a fan who jumped the fence fell down and was trampled by other fans jumping the fence. Had his skull fractured. Not sure what lasting injuries he had, if any.

I guess being in school at LSU for national championships wasn't exciting enough.

The students usually embarrass LSU by emptying out during halftime. Now they embarrass LSU by acting like they have never won a game before and storming the field. To make it worse, we should never be that excited to beat Ole Piss. It was a ridiculous site.
