On Monday, it was announced that Mike VI has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called spindle cell sarcoma. Since then, Mike has received many well wishes from LSU fans, students, and even fellow SEC mascots like Arkansas Razorbacks mascot Tusk IV who sent flowers and a card.

LSU head coach Les Miles, who shares a special bond with Mike sent the following message out on Twitter Thursday:

That's a one of a kind picture right there! Les can be frustrating as we all know, but he seems to have a kind soul & loving spirit. Big cats are amazingly beautiful to me, & even though Roscoe doesn't get in his cage, that pic stings a little knowing what's coming. I'm getting soft as I age, & I'm good with it. Love ya Mike
