LSU running back Leonard Fournette will definitely be in the early discussion for the 2016 Heisman Trophy, but as of right now he trails Clemson quarterback DeShaun Watson in the odds. Per NOLA.com:
quote:

VegasInsider.com lists Clemson quarterback DeShaun Watson as the early leader at 5-1 odds with Fournette at 6-1 and Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey at 7-1. McCaffrey was the runner up to last year's winner, Derrick Henry of Alabama, and Watson finished third.
Fournette rushed for 1,953 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2015.

McCaffrey is the one to watch. He does it all, he got screwed by the steroid gump last year, what a joke that was. If LF makes the kind of gain he made from freshman year to soph. year, He will win it and if they beat the gumps with him have a great game look out!

Should have read: "VegasInsider.com lists Clemson quarterback DeShaun Watson as the early leader at 5-1 odds with Fournette at 6-1 and Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey at 7-1. McCaffrey was the runner up to last year's winner, Derrick Henry of Alabama, and Watson finished third. Fournette rushed for 1,953 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2015, was a manchild, the NCAA rushing champion, and wasn't even invited to the ceremony"

No one has mentioned his ability to catch out of the backfield. He's a bigger, stronger Marshall Faulk.

Watson will probably have gaudy numbers. LSUs puckered a-hole offensive scheme will do it's usual thing against the stouter SEC defenses, and LF's stats will suffer. Like last year when the third best SEC RB won the Heisman.

I agree. Les tends "call the dogs off when they go up by double digits. LF7 sat out most fourth quarters. Hopefully, he'll take Cameron off the leash and let him open up the playbook. This team has immense talent. Les just needs to let Cameron and Aranda display it.

lets just wait and see LF will need superb blocking and stay healthy.

Im a die hard LSU fan and a Fournette fan but Todd Gurly was and is a better back.

Pass whatever you smoking because whatever it is, it must be potent. Do you even watch football. You can't possibly be watching the same two guys that we do. There hasn't been a back like Fournette since Peterson. Let's see how Gurley's numbers look this year now that teams have a year of game tape on him and L.A.s lack of a passing game. Can you say "Sophomore Slump?"

die hard LSU fan and a Fournette fan??? What a load of crap you liar. Come here and state that Gurly was and is a better back if that's your opinion. Fine. But don't try to compound the impact of your opinion with a complete lie.

Really? I'm amazed LF has as much hype as he does. He's good, don't get me wrong, but "best in a decade" comments and such? Meh. He 'ain't all that, sorry.

Yes he is a once in a decade type back. His combination of size, agility, power, and quickness has been unmatched since Adrian Peterson.

you're right. Literally every scout in football has lost their mind and they are just making the hype up. We are very sorry and next time we'll make sure to get your expertise in talent evaluation prior to recruiting these bums.

Lol. He's a great RB, but he's not "once in a decade". As a matter of fact, there's really no such thing unless you're talking about maybe Jim Brown.

It is shocking how little love this guy gets from the folks involved with the Heisman. The fact that he wasn't even invited to New York last boggles the mind. I bet his odds are even worse than what Vegas has.

He had a mediocre game against a top ranked defense and that turned people off towards the end. If he played in any other conference, he'd have 1 and would be getting ready for his 2nd.

Mediocre? Didn't he also have 2 fumbles in a loss to Ole Miss and not do much in another loss at home to Arky? That doesn't win you a Heisman.
