LSU junior Garrett Brumfield was named the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week by the league on Tuesday morning.

Brumfield made his first career start in LSU's season opener on Saturday, helping the Tigers defeat BYU 27-0. Per SECSports.com:

-In first career start, graded out at 86 percent for highest among LSU linemen against BYU.

-LSU's offense racked 479 total yards (294 rushing, 185) and accounted for 26 first downs in the win.

-The Tigers held the ball for 41:54 and averaged 6.4 yards a play.

-Led Tigers with 12 knockdown blocks and no sacks.

-For the game, LSU had only three negative yards plays, didn't allow a sack and didn't turn the ball over.

I never heard Garrett's name called during the game.(Haven't watched the replay yet.) Anyway, that's the perfect compliment for an o-lineman. It means he's doing his job. And all the Grimes haters, give the guy a chance. The young line looked pretty good and should only get better. Congrats to Garrett!
